History
Alfred Cove is the name of the small bay or cove in memory of Alfred Waylen, a pioneer landowner in the Melville district from 1835 – 1854. This small suburb developed along the Canning Highway from 1932. The East and West suburbs of the City of Melville were finally joined through Alfred Cove in 1963. Many streets are named after State and Federal politicians who were in office during the construction of the road from Perth to Fremantle.
